Membership

We are The Membership Committee and our main task is attracting new members. If you are interested in JCI Amsterdam International (JCI-AI) and fill out our application form, you will be contacted for an invite to an introductory meeting. During this meeting we will tell you all you need to know about our chapter and answer all your questions on JCI. After this meeting, we’ll invite you to one of our monthly member meetings or social events to see firsthand what we’ve been talking about.

Aside from our role as promoter of JCI-AI, we mentor the new candidates into JCI. This “mentor” gives new candidates or new members a quick and easy link with JCI-AI and all its members and activities.

For this year, one of our goals is to hold a big event open to all interested people. We will arrange for keynote speakers to give challenging presentations on various subjects. And let people get connected in our network. And as JCI-AI is a true international chapter, it will all be in English, so the expats can feel at home.

If you are interested in JCI-AI or in the (new)-membership committee, contact us so we can answer all your questions. We look forward to hearing from you.

Training

The Training Committee within JCIAI is responsible for organising training and workshops within our chapter. This can be given by external parties and also by official JCI trainers. Our Committee has a lot of contact with JCI nationally, external organisations and companies to arrange training and workshops. Therefore it is a dynamic and interesting committee to be a part of.

Furthermore, we inform members of our chapter about the possibilities of courses to become a trainer within JCI and help them where ever needed. Since we are an English speaking chapter, we also give national trainers the opportunity to practice in our chapter in this language.

The trainer course is one of the professional education possibilities within JCI. The Training Committee functions as a bridge between our chapter and JCI the Netherlands. Also we cooperate with other committees within our own chapter, when our expertise or that of the other committee is needed.

Marketting & Communication

The Marketing & Communication Committee, as the name implies, is responsible for the marketing strategy and all internal and external communication of JCIAI.

As a committee we are responsible for enlarging JCIAI’s popularity, with expats as the most important target audience. We want to reach them through sponsoring and partnerships with companies who have International relations and with advertisements on websites which have expats as a target audience. Our second responsibility is all internal and external communication of JCIAI. This includes communication through Social media like Twitter and Facebook, the newsletter (internal) and the website (internal and external).

If you have any questions, remarks and ideas for the Marketing and Communication Committee please contact us if you would like to join us, do not hesitate!

Community & Twinning

The focus of the C&T committee is twofold. The committee organises several projects with positive social impact on the Dutch community. An example of such a project is the Christmas tree project to make poorer children relish Christmas like every other, which occurred on the last Saturday before Christmas. On this Saturday we collect Christmas presents for different children whom profit from the food bank in the Netherlands.

A second focus of the C&T committee is twinning. Twinning is a partnership between two JCI local organisations in which partners learn, exchange ideas and gain a unique perspective on the world as they participate in joint cross-cultural projects. The C&T committee maintains several such partnerships. As on the 30th of April 2011 a concrete cross-cultural project will be ‘Uitmarkt’ & celebrating of Queens Day’s project: together with the social committee, JCIAI invites members of foreign JCI chapters to participate. The C&T committee is happy to open their homes to offer a place to stay during and around the time of this event. Moreover, the committee plans to organize an extended list of activities for those coming from abroad.

For more information about the activities of the C&T Committee consult the agenda with upcoming events.

If you are interested in participation of this committee please contact us. We are looking forward to meeting you!

Social Activity Committee

As the Social Activity Committee we organise social and sports activities for our members. This means the possibility to organise a wide variety of different activities. From simply organising a drink or a single sports activity to for example a whole weekend around Queensday where we organise specific activities for our members and Twinning partners from abroad. With the Social Activity Committee you´ll find a challenge that suits you.

Just to give you an example of a social activity we organise. We are responsible for finding nice locations for our Monthly Drinks(MD). This activity is being held every last Friday of the month. Apart from changing venue every month, from time to time we also combine it with dinners, movie nights, ice-skating, bowling and many more still to come.

Another part of our responsibility is the organisation of sports activities. We organised a Skitrip, squashnights, and with spring and summer approaching, we plan to at least organise a sailing activity, beach day with several sports, climbing activity and tennis.

We also have some special JCI Amsterdam International (JCI AI) traditions like the Summer BBQ, the Christmas Dinner and the New Years Drinks (organised once every 3 years by JCI AI).

If you are interested in joining the Social Activity Committee, do not hesitate to contact us.
