New member and candidates
At the February member meeting, Caroline Boessenkool was welcomed as a full member to our chapter. Furthermore, Richard Taylor and Cristina Kuyumzu (official name: Cristiana Cuiumju) were welcomed as candidate members. A warm welcome to you all. We're looking forward to seeing more of you in 2011.
Past events
On February 24th Jasper, Richard, Ian and Annick have been playing squash at Squash city, prinseneiland. For over an hour they have been playing against each other, which they all experienced as a great work out. From the four who participated Jasper was the best, as you can see in the picture. Apparently they were so enthusiastic about it that the next squashing event will be held on the March 17th again at Squash city.

On Friday February 25th we went to see the Black Swan in pathé Tuschinski at Rembrandtsplein. The old theater has a unique and extraordinary decoration, which gave our movie night a fitting atmosphere. Although the contrasting views on the movie, we all had a great night at Tuschinski and full of excitement we watched the movie . After the movie we went to Feijoa, where we had beer or drank wine out of crystal glasses. A great night.

April 30 JCI ‘Uitmarkt’ & BBQ
With spring being on its way, Amsterdam is slowly starting preparations for one of the most festive days in the year: the celebration of Queens' Day, on the 30th of April! As JCI Amsterdam International, we are also preparing for a fun day, and we want to combine this with the spirit of JCI: the community pillar. We are going to organize the Uitmarkt sale!
The Uitmarkt Flea Market on Queens' Day offers all Amsterdammers the chance to sell their redundant items. This year, the Community Team is planning to organize our own JCI 'Uitmarkt'. From the money that we raise, we will organize a Vondelpark summer BBQ for individuals and families registered Voedselbank. The date for the BBQ is still to be announced, but will be in June.
This sounds interesting, right? The good news is: we need many hands!
Take note: - Do you live in a perfect Uitmarkt-spot, in Jordaan or de Pijp, in the midst of where all the action will be? And are you happy to reserve an Uitmarkt-square meter or two a few days ahead? Happy to lend your kitchen to cook muffins in order to sell them on your doorstep? Happy to store a few boxes a few days ahead of the 30th? - Are you a good salesperson or do you want to practice your sales skills? - Are you a creative cook, thinking you can make big money with your sweet pies and cakes? - Do you have a basement full of value-for-money second hand items (that fits into a big box / car), such as toys, clothes, books, dvds, household items? - Are you a professional picnicker? Want to learn how to prepare sandwiches in bulk? Good at kindergartening for a bunch of children?
If your answer to any of these is yes, please let us know!
The collection action we will take place at the April member meeting and will be followed by another collection round if necessary!
